Re: Desktop Support Technician, as advertised in The Bridgeport Times.

Dear Mr. Simpson,

I am skilled at providing PC hardware/software support both on site and over the phone. While completing my B.S. degree in Computer Science, I worked as a technical consultant to users in the university community and the Bridgeport Public Library. I gained experience in installing, configuring, and repairing laptop and desktop PC hardware, installing and upgrading a wide range of software in multiple DOS and Windows environments, and supporting network connectivity.

Equally important to your company would be my ability to communicate effectively with business and residential clients in person and over the phone. I am able to assess problems quickly and explain in lay terms the fix required. I offer that rare combination of technical problem-solving strengths and “people skills” that has resulted in may customer requests that I do further work for them. I make customer service a top personal priority.

I have pursued extensive industry-standardized training and possess several certifications, including Microsoft Certified Professional, A+, and Network+. I am currently pursuing coursework leading to certifications as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco Certified Network Associate.

My skills include organizing and prioritizing jobs, multitasking, and completing jobs on schedule. I am highly motivated to get the job done well and in a timely manner, leaving behind a satisfied customer.

I would appreciate an opportunity to take with you in person about how I might contribute to your technical support team. I will call the week of Oct 30th to inquire about setting up an appointment to meet. Thank you for considering this letter and the enclosed resume.

Sincerely,

Jonathan Swimmers
